This reunion is the result of one woman's search for her "roots". Separated from her mother at the age of eight and adopted at ten, she had vague memories of family members, but she didn't have enough information to find any of them. She spent many years wondering about her real parents and why she and her younger brother had been given up for adoption. When the law was changed to allow adults access to their adoption records, she obtained a copy of her actual birth certificate; and although the information was sparse, it provided a place to start her search.

After many futile attempts to find information that might link to her natural mother and father, she learned how to search the Internet, and found the "pot of gold"! First, she found her natural father's family. Though he had died years before, she discovered an older half-sister and other family members who remembered her as a little girl. With their help she was able to track down and actually talk on the phone with her natural mother for the first time in over 40 years. Almost overnight she went from feeling alone in the world to immersion in the warmth of a very large and loving family. This reunion brings them all together for the first time.
